September signals a time of transition—so much of it! We see shifts in routines, sleep patterns, temperatures, daylight hours, traffic, and even in the colours of the leaves. It’s a month of transformation as we prepare for the end of the year, with the last day of summer (September 22nd) playing a big role in many of these changes. But while change is constant, it’s something many of us resist, even though it’s part of life itself.
From the moment we’re born, change is a natural part of our journey. Our bodies undergo continuous transformations, some more noticeable during certain stages, like infancy and puberty. During infancy, the rapid physical growth is unmistakable, especially in the first two years. This pace slows until adolescence, where internal shifts become more prominent—leading to external changes such as hair growth, skin issues, and the development of features that distinguish genders. Later in life, outward changes become clear again: weaker muscles, stiffer joints, and thinning skin.
What’s truly remarkable is that your body is adapting and evolving every single day, at every stage of life. The ability to adjust is what defines living things. Take, for instance, your body temperature. While 37C is considered the standard, in reality, your temperature fluctuates throughout the day. It’s usually lowest in the morning and highest in the late afternoon, with a variation of up to 2-3 degrees in a single day.
This is just one way your body is constantly making adjustments through a process called homeostasis. Along with temperature, your body regulates water levels, blood pressure, and even blood consistency for clotting, as well as oxygen, pH, glucose, and electrolyte levels. These small adaptations help you navigate and thrive in your environment.
While these changes may seem insignificant, they truly matter. Health doesn’t suddenly deteriorate by chance; it’s often the result of small, gradual changes or an inability to adjust. That’s why taking care of yourself when you’re feeling well is so important. Regular chiropractic care, even when you’re not in pain, can keep your body aligned and functioning at its best. Those minor spinal misalignments you don’t notice could lead to future issues, but consistent adjustments can support your body’s function, enhance your adaptability, and help you live your fullest life.
So, embrace the changes this September brings! Take care of your body, celebrate your resilience, and enjoy the beauty of transformation.
Cheers,
Lili
